Kids Ecology Corps - Butterflies, Moths and Their Plants
BUTTERFLIES, MOTHS AND THEIR PLANTS is presented by Kids Ecology Corps as part of the Snyder Park Restoration Project in partnership with the City of Fort Lauderdale. This program provides service learning opportunities for Broward County youngsters between 7-11 years old (and their adult chaperone).
BUTTERFLIES, MOTHS AND THEIR PLANTS is a fun-filled, educational program that will explore the nature of butterflies, moths and the connection between their life cycle stages and the specific plants they need. This program will include engaging, hands-on learning activities followed by making two ”no water necessary” terrariums to house butterfly-attracting plants -- one to take home to start a butterfly garden and one to leave at the Park to help beautify and populate the Butterfly Gardens at Snyder Park. All materials are provided.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. The easiest way to sign a team up is to email jennifer@handsonbroward.org with the name(s) and date(s) you want to attend, so we can make sure every child is accompanied by an adult.
Weather permitting, activities will take place outdoors (and move indoors if there is rain). Your service to the park experience will include a guided nature walk. It is best to wear long pants, socks and shoes, and a long-sleeved shirt. Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended. Water will be provided. A donation of unused gardening gloves of any size to support the restoration project at Snyder would be wonderful!
You are welcome to come to all programs or just the date(s) of your choice.
