On February 26, 2026 Jumpstart’s Read for the Record unites millions of adults and children to read the same book on the same day, activating a worldwide community to uplift the critical importance of early literacy.

For its milestone 20th anniversary, Jumpstart’s Read for the Record will transform into an extended 20-week celebration, inviting educators, families, children, authors and more to engage with its rich literary history. Beginning on October 13, 2025 and culminating in the annual Read for the Record Day on February 26, 2026, participants will receive weekly activity guides and learning resources inspired by beloved children’s books from past campaigns, including classics like The Very Hungry Caterpillar and recent selections such as Piper Chen Sings

About Read for the Record

Jumpstart’s Read for the Record is the world’s largest shared reading experience, celebrating early literacy and supporting children’s early language and social-emotional development. The annual initiative raises awareness of the critical importance of early literacy and access to inclusive, high-quality books through shared reading. Over the course of 19 years, more than 28 million people have participated in Read for the Record, and Jumpstart for Young Children has distributed millions of high-quality books to children through the program.
