EARTH DAY CELEBRATION: Protect our Species at Markham Park
Join our Environmental Project Leader Maria, along with Markham Park staff, in celebrating Earth Day 2019. This year we want to create awareness of the importance of protecting our species. The butterflies and bees play an important role in pollinating flowers, without them our source of food will be compromised. Help us in protecting and maintaining their ecosystem in the Markham Park’s Butterfly Garden.
We are located near the nature trail entrance. The work will include planting, weeding, and maintenance of the beautiful butterfly-attracting plants.
To make day-of registration quicker, please bring the completed Broward County Workday Volunteer Application and Waiver with you - the County requires it for all volunteers who have not undergone a county background check. The form is available by clicking here.
Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and must wear sneakers/closed-toe shoes - all volunteers will be working with dirt. Hats and sunscreen are recommended. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own water and gloves for the project.
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult to this project. Court-ordered volunteers are NOT permitted for this project. When you arrive at the Park, you will be able to park for free and will meet Maria at the location you are given after registering.
