Greater Horizons Academy Volunteer Opportunity
Volunteers are needed at this afterschool recreation program to assist teachers with the school-aged children who attend. You will assist with setting up and serving snacks, providing homework help, playing games, reading books, etc. It all depends on what activities the kids are doing that day. We really have a need for volunteers who can help with homework and tutoring students, so if you have that ability, please let the school know.
PLEASE NOTE (High school students): During the Summer, High school students can volunteer from 7:30am to 5pm. And, during the 2023-2024 school year, High school student can volunteer afterschool from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
New Compliance with DCF licensing regulations: We would like to outline the necessary documentation required for volunteers with the Greater Horizon Academy Preschool, particularly in light of our compliance with DCF licensing regulations.
For the safety of the children in our care, it is essential that all individuals present in the facility complete background screenings. As educators, we are required to fulfill a total of 40 hours of training on DCF website and includes a "Safe Sleep" training module. Additionally, any volunteers wishing to assist in the infant classroom must also complete the required training.
