2024 Back to School Extravaganza - Blanche Ely High School

The Children's Services Council's Back to School Community Extravaganza will supply over 10,000 Broward students with backpacks, school supplies, clothes, and shoes. This event also hosts a resource fair where families can get vaccines and resources to prepare them for the new school year. The event will be held in 3 locations this year to make it even more convenient for the families. This listing is for the Blanche Ely High School location.
Volunteers will be assisting in the main area of the distribution event, getting the needed supplies into the hands of the kids and families.
Duties may include:

• Setting up stations, unloading boxes
• Distribution of backpacks, uniforms, and books
• Replenishing and straightening up the distribution stations
• Assisting families in selecting shoes in the proper sizes
• Runners between stations, filling in for volunteers who are on a break
• Once the event has ended, volunteers will assist in packing up any leftover supplies and breaking down the distribution and resource fair areas.

Please do not attend if the following statements are not applicable to you on the volunteer day:

• I am not experiencing any symptoms of illness such as cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell.
• I do not believe I have been exposed to someone with a suspected and/or confirmed case of any contagious disease including but not limited to Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), COVID-19, Influenza, etc.

Please wear a HandsOn Broward t-shirt if you have one. If you don’t have one, t-shirts will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. (Supply is limited, so if you have a t-shirt, please don’t take a new one).

Lunch will be provided for volunteers.
