2018 MLK Signature Day of Service

Dates: 1/15/2017 - 1/15/2017

The Event date and time you are looking for is no longer available.

On Monday, January 15, 2018, millions of people across the country will unite in service in honor of Dr. King. Individuals, groups and families from all cultures and communities will join together to positively impact our neighborhoods.

During HandsOn Broward’s 2018 MLK Day of Service, community volunteers will join HandsOn Broward staff, local business partners and faculty at McNicol Middle School to launch Broward County’s first STREAMscapes project. Developed to support hands-on learning in an outdoor setting, STREAMscapes incorporates vital academic elements of STEM while also integrating the Arts for imaginative problem-solving and an often-overlooked, but equally essential, learning component: Reflection. Volunteers are needed to begin Phase One of development of a living classroom. Activities will include light construction, painting, landscaping and planting tasks. Snacks and water will be provided. Volunteers are asked to wear close-toe shoes and bring a reusable water bottle to help us cut down on plastic waste.

HandsOn Broward’s 2018 MLK Day of Service is powered by the Florida Panthers Foundation and is a recipient of a Broward College MLK Day of Service grant.
