Family Volunteer Day 2019
Join HandsOn Broward as we celebrate Family Volunteer Day 2019 with Long Key Natural Area and Nature Center.
Families who volunteer at Long Key will work on various projects throughout the natural area to restore the natural habitat and improve the site for visitors. Projects include pulling weeds, planting, invasive plant removal and air potato removal.
Registration begins at 8:45AM with project kickoff at 9AM.
What to bring/wear:
- Gloves (there will be gloves available to borrow if you don’t have any)
- Long pants (yoga pants and shorts are discouraged as they do not provide enough protection)
- Closed toe shoes
- Hat
- Sunscreen
- Insect repellent
- Reusable water bottle (we will provide large coolers of water)
A pizza lunch will be provided following the project.

Family Volunteer Day, an initiative of generationOn and HandsOn Network, is a day of service that demonstrates the power of families coming together to impact their communities through volunteering. Celebrated annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, the day "kicks off" the holiday season with giving and service.
