Virtual ReadingPal - Broward County
United Way is promoting early childhood literacy by advocating for the ReadingPals program across Broward County. Did you know that 43% of Florida students cannot read at a minimally proficient level by the end of third grade? ReadingPals, a statewide volunteer-based literacy initiative provides mentors for students from Pre-K through 3rd grade for one hour a week for 25 weeks to read to a child. United Way of Broward County is seeking volunteers who can commit to meeting with a student at their school for one hour each week, continuing for twenty-five weeks. New volunteers MUST attend one training session and also be fingerprinted and cleared by the school board in order to become a ReadingPal.
