New VITA Volunteer Orientation 2016
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program. To become a Certified IRS Volunteer Tax Preparer, volunteers must:
- Be proficient in English
- Be computer literate – able to navigate the internet and be familiar with Microsoft
Office. - Be able to pass Level 1 Background Check
Volunteers must also agree to: • Pass the Advanced Level of Certification in training • At least 40 hours of service during the tax season. Tax/CPA professionals welcome. In order to get started, you must first register for an Orientation session. **If you have never volunteered for the VITA program or volunteered with the program for the 2013 and 2014 tax seasons you must register for this New VITA Volunteer Orientation below.** You are considered a RETURNING VITA volunteer if you volunteered with the VITA program for the last three years or more (2013, 2014, and 2015) and have donated more than a total of 50 hours to the program.
