HandsOn Broward's 911 Day of Service and Remembrance

On the weekend of September 11, 2016, people throughout the United States will participate in a national day of service to pay tribute to the victims, survivors and those who rose in service following the 9/11 terror attacks in 2001.  On the fifteenth anniversary of the tragedy, 120 volunteers will join local volunteer mobilization hub HandsOn Broward in service projects to benefit local veterans.

HandsOn Broward's 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance will take place at Keystone Halls, a transitional housing facility for veterans who are recovering from substance abuse.  During the project, volunteers will focus on repairing, painting and revitalizing the grounds and buildings of the facility, which gives resident veterans the housing they deserve while adjusting to civilian life. Due to regular resident turnover and high wear-and-tear, this property requires significant ongoing work to transform the environment into one that is welcoming and convenient for recovery. 

HandsOn Broward is looking for volunteers who can assist with minor building repairs, painting, gardening and the construction of a volleyball court, picnic tables, and benches for recreational areas. Volunteers will also assemble "We Care" packages that will go to approximately 120 active duty military personnel.
