Miramar Community Garden Volunteer Workday & Mural Painting Project
The 3,150 s.f. Miramar Community Garden located at Fairway Park is the first demonstration “micro farming system” in Broward County; an environmentally and economically sustainable system that creates a network of healthy food sources of naturally grown vegetables and fruits, a social network for garden volunteers to learn about the urban agricultural industry, and the opportunity for vocational training.
For the months of March and April, the Garden will be hosting special painting projects in addition to the regular garden workday!
March 28 - Free Painting Essentials class (in an outdoor setting)
- there will be a 3-D drawing exercise and painting exercise
- volunteers will help develop a mural concept, leading up to the painting of the mural in April.
- those interested in painting that day, please come in clothes you do not mind getting paint splattered on!
• Tidying up, weeding, and planting in the garden
• Checking irrigation
• Special and ongoing projects
Bring your gardening tools, if possible, remember to dress appropriately, protect yourself from the sun, and don’t forget drinking water! Volunteers under 16 years old must be accompanied by a parent - community service hours are available!
In addition to signing up, you must download the waiver form(s), and bring it with you to the project - Minor Waiver linked here; Adult Waiver linked here. THE CITY OF MIRAMAR WILL REQUIRE THIS FORM COMPLETED AND SIGNED BY AN ADULT PRIOR TO VOLUNTEERING.

As the recipient of a Community Arts Education Partnership grant (CAEP), partially funded through the Broward County Cultural Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, artist and co-founder of local non-profit Growing Broward Valerie Amor invited the Miramar Community Garden to participate as collaborators in implementing her grant.
