The Friendship Circle
The Friendship Circle is dedicated to providing friendship to special needs children and young adults, and to create for the children and volunteers a comfortable, non-judgmental community environment.
The Friendship Circle unites volunteers with special needs children in a friendship that deeply enriches both lives. Through a wide range of social and educational innovative programs and activities, a circle of love and fun is formed.
Programs include:
Friends at Home Program: Every week, pairs of teenage volunteers visit participating children in their homes, offering friendship and sharing activities. With the help of an idea booklet for activities, as well as their own creativity, volunteers lead their friend in playing all sorts of fun games and activities around the house.
Young Adult Circle: Young adult volunteers and young adults with special needs come together monthly to form a social group of friends in a non-judgmental and accepting environment, while having a great time and enhancing their social skills along the way! The group has experienced an array of exciting activities, such as karaoke, unique arts activities, and baking with ingredients they shopped for as a group.
Teen Scene: This program was designed to create a true social home base for our special teens, at the age where a social group can be defining and a necessity. Teen volunteers and teens with special needs get together monthly for social activities and group "hang outs" where they can have a great time while enhancing social skills along the way!
Cheerleading: The children are put through a basic cheerleading class including a warm-up, a basic tumbling lesson with hands on instruction, and a small choreographed routine! All this is along side one of the professional cheerleading buddies, who are paired with each group member.
When you express an interest in volunteering for The Friendship Circle, Musia will follow up with you to discuss your interest.
